Roger Bigod IV , earl of Norfolk

Born: c. 1245   Died: 1306   

Soldier and magnate he acquired the hereditary office of marshal of England and served in Edward I's major campaigns in Wales and held the lordship of Chepstow and other important lands in the Marches.

The present gatehouse at Chepstow and front were built by Bigod.
