Died: 1136   

Richard succeeded his father as lord of Clare, Tonbridge, and Ceredigion in 1117 and was chiefly concerned with exploiting and consolidating his father's conquests in Ceredigion which he made 'a second England'.

His family crest appears on floor tiles recovered from the chancel of Usk Priory which he founded.
