Talley Abbey - fifteenth-century copper alloy seal

The seal shows the abbot of Talley, mitred, perhaps to represent Abbot Iorwerth of Talley who, in 1215, became bishop of St Davids. Above the abbot is the Lamb of God a(Agnus Dei)and the inscription S' ABBTIS CONVENT' MONSTRIBE MARIE DE TALLEY (seal of the Abbot and convent of the blessed Mary of Talley); on either side of the figure is a lily in a pot - the symbol of the Virgin Mary.
